When a student switches classes, assign old assignments to them

Under Consideration

When a student switches into a new class, they will not be assigned the previous work of that class that were due previous to their join date. Sometimes there are reasons that a student needs to see that previous work.

The tradeoffs are that we:

A) dont want the student to have a ton of new late assignments

B) dont want to confuse them or their parents when they look at the calendar

We may be able to find a better way to handle this scenario if it's still a problem though. Thoughts?

I have had several teachers wonder why students are not able to view assignments in homeroom when the students change periods, same teacher, just in a different period.

Yep - when Skyward puts them into a new class (even if its just a new period), Homeroom doesn't go back and re-assign them the old assignments from that class.

If we do assign them the old assignments, what should we do if they join halfway through the semester? We don't really want them to have 50 late assignments from the first half...

So as a solution, the teacher will need to assign the assignment again?

so if i assign an assignment, that is due Friday, the student changes periods Wednesday, the student will not have the "bucket" available to turn in their assignment on Friday.
